Health & Safety at Fire Protection Solutions
A Common Priority
Worldwide, all Business Units (BUs) of VINCI Energies participate in the Safety Excellence Initiative – regardless of business segment or location.
All BUs follow the same approach for prevention and continuous improvement of workplace conditions, with management and employees working closely together to achieve the common goals of “zero on-the-job accidents” and “zero work-related illnesses”. The VINCI Group has committed itself to these fixed goals by also including them in its Corporate Manifesto.
“VINCI Energies pursues an ambitious occupational health & safety policy, which we implement through the Safety Excellence Initiative.” – Stefan Falk, Managing Director of Fire Protection Solutions.
Health & Safety and Performance
For VINCI Energies, health and safety at work is inextricably linked to overall performance. Prevention, Productivity, Efficiency, and Collective Intelligence are part and parcel of operational excellence. In line with this vision, Prevention forms a core activity of each and every BU, and is a must for every project, building site, and department. It serves as a benchmark for management quality and improves the performance of our BUs.
Principles and Measures
Culture of Risk Perception
The Safety Excellence Initiative aims to promote a culture of risk perception amongst all at VINCI Energies. It is based on applying, in any given place and at any given time, the three core principles of “look – report- share”, through which each employee takes responsibility not just for their own safety, but also for that of everyone else. This shared purpose and practice of looking out for oneself and one’s colleagues helps to create mutual respect and reliability.
Raising Awareness and Training
Numerous measures help to promote a culture of risk perception. On building sites, briefings are systematic and thorough, giving priority to any risks that the entire workforce is subject to — regardless if it is our personnel or temporary third-party staff at the site. Prior to beginning construction, a fifteen-minute safety briefing is conducted.
With the help of the VINCI Energies Academy, the VINCI Group is making great strides in the area of professional development. More than 120 training modules on Health & Safety at Work have been developed by experts within the Group, as well as external experts. These modules are available to staff and cover all areas of business and know-how at VINCI Energies.
VINCI Energies organises an annual Safety Week in all BUs across the world. The event stresses the importance of each individual employee’s role, while strengthening team cohesion at the same time. It promotes the broad mobilisation of employees during workshops on the topics of Best Practice and Experience Feedback. Safety Week is an essential instrument in ensuring that the Group’s entire workforce embraces a culture of risk perception.
Structured Approach and Shared Tools
The Safety Excellence Initiative was developed at the level of VINCI Energies, with its various components being structured and coordinated with the help of safety experts. Using harmonised procedures and shared tools enables the analysis and mapping of dangerous situations, makes it possible to evaluate accident rate trends, and enables the development of appropriate action plans and awareness-raising campaigns.
