Special extinguishing systems

Special extinguishing systems

We have the ideal solution for every application. Should one of the conventional fire protection systems not be the perfect solution for your needs, we will be only too happy to offer you one of our special extinguishing systems:

Expert contacts are available to answer all your questions on these systems.  We will be happy to provide you with all the advice you need.

Fire monitor extinguishing system

MonitorlöschanlageFire monitor extinguishing systems get their name from fixed water cannons known as monitors. The fire detection system’s smoke and flame detectors identify the seat of a fire and activate the monitors.

Monitors can have a range of up to 65 metres and spray between 2,500 and 6,000 litres of extinguishing water per minute at a pressure of 8-14 bar. The water cannons are controlled automatically but the fire brigade can direct the monitors towards the seat of the fire manually from a control panel.

Applications for fire monitor extinguishing systems:

Fire monitor extinguishing systems are used to target the seat of a fire quickly in dangerous areas such as:

  • Waste paper stores
  • Waste incineration plants
  • Aircraft hangars
  • Power stations
  • Tank farms
  • Refineries

Nohl water mist extinguishing system (low-pressure)

The NOHL water mist extinguishing system is a nozzle-based system for low-pressure applications that can generate a very small water droplet size in water spray extinguishing systems.
The main advantage of this system, which operates intermittently, is its very economical use of water and modest extinguishing water requirements.
Using water mist as an extinguishing agent is an environmentally friendly form of fire protection.

We are committed to active environmental protection.

The nozzles produce effective water atomisation at a flow pressure as low as 4 bar. The water’s extinguishing effect is maximised by atomising it into tiny drops and aerosols.
The resultant high density of extinguishing water makes it possible to reduce the amount of water supplied. The water mist binds fumes and other harmful substances in the air. White smoke forms which makes it easier for the people at the seat of the fire to escape and rescue others. The amount of extinguishing water used is much lower than with a sprinkler system, too.

Nohl Messe Frankfurt

If the water atomising system is designed as a wet system, pipes are filled with water up to the release valve in areas not at risk of frost. A dry system is also available, in particular for areas at risk of frost. The release valves can then be located either within or outside the extinguishing area.
The water supply is dimensioned in line with the type and extent of extinguishing water provision and the concrete risk class (as specified by the VdS). It is also adapted to the local conditions. Each extinguishing section is activated automatically. A tried-and-tested standard solution is a combined fire protection and ventilation system in which the existing dry pipe system with open nozzles is also used for ventilation and to keep dust levels down.

Applications for NOHL water mist extinguishing systems

NOHL water mist extinguishing systems are intended in particular for:

  • Power stations, turbines, generators, indoor transformers and cable ducts/shafts
  • High-bay warehouses
  • Production halls for trade and industry and the commercial sector
  • Mining, underground transport systems and tunnels
  • Protection of people in hospitals, guest houses, hotels and places of public assembly
  • Protection of special cultural and religious buildings such as churches, museums and archives.
